Why is it important to read
to your child?

Research tells us that children who are read to are more likely to do well in school. U.S. Education Secretary Richard W. Riley once said, ”If every child were read to daily from infancy, it would revolutionize education in this country.”

The GRO Program (Giving Reading Opportunities) is dedicated to raising awareness in our area of the benefits of early literacy and making books available to children and their families. Through programs such as the Adopted Books Center and The Learning Tree, we hope to create and sustain a community of active readers.

If your organization would like to get involved in this important work, please call the Richmond Memorial Library for more information or contact us at sbrig@nioga.org.
